RAW Review 29/12/14

For a change the RAW before the new year ended appropriately with a big bang and for the most part I was invested and entertained for the entire three hours. I will do what I do best and provide you with the best highlights of RAW and what took place.

1) The best promo of the year

Seth Rollins single handily made RAW a show to remember with his unbelievable ability to tell a storyline on the fly, and deliver the best promo of the year in my opinion. Seth Rollins was a special guest on the Peep Show/ The Cutting Edge and he had a plan up his sleeve all the whole time. The Big was invited down to the ring and he decided to give a Choke Slam to Christian.

All of a sudden JJ security team and the Big Show put Edge’s head on the briefcase and Seth Rollins teased the whole time that he was to connect with the Curb stomp. Then Rollins caused John Cena to come out in order to get what he wanted. Rollins stated that if he didn’t get what he wanted he will break Edge’s neck via the Curb stomp. Cena finally bit and gave in and he requested to get the Authority reinstated therefore Rollins got what he wanted. The Authority is back in power for 2015 so therefore we will see what they have in store for the WWE in the new year.

2) Debut/Returns

The Miz and Damien Mizdow had a rough night first losing their tag team titles to the Usos. Then they got introduced to The Ascension on the main roster they looked very impressive and made quick work of The Miz and Mizdow and got a decent crowd reaction I expected better from the fans. It’s amazing to see Bad News Barrett return to action against Cesaro in a very physical match as I expected. Bad News Barrett returned to his winning ways and another aspect I noticed was that Barrett lost a lot of weight.

2) Daniel Bryan made a special announcement

Daniel made his presence known and arguably had one of the best announcements since Mark Henry fake retirement. Daniel Bryan did an incredible job at selling the fact he was going to retire, but the intelligent wrestling fans knew that he was not going to retire. Daniel Bryan announced himself eligible for the 2015 Royal Rumble instead it will be very intriguing to see how rusty Bryan is with his in ring work after multiple surgeries on his neck and his shoulders .

SmackDown Review 26/12/14

Courtesy of WWE

I thought that SmackDown was decent but it was nothing special in my opinion, I swear every time that I watch RAW and SmackDown it feels like deja vu, like I am watching the same thing over and over again. I will do what I do best and provide the best insight of what were the significant highlights of SmackDown.

1) Rusev teases a feud with Ryback

Rusev has been running through the entire WWE roster and it’s getting extremely boring because of the lack of competition for him. I believe that having Ryback in a feud with Rusev will be fresh, and it’s an excellent way to elevate them both at the same time. After Ryback picked up the win and made quick work of Kane Rusev came down to the ring Kane delivered a choke slam followed by the Accolade from Rusev to Ambrose which layed him out.

2) Jimmy Uso/The Miz Feud

At first I was not at all interested in this feud but over time I have become more invested in this storyline. The Miz is using Naomi in terms of trying to get her a music deal it’s very smart because it’s a very effective way to get inside of Jimmy head. Other aspect that is very positive both can really improve on their in ring work in my opinion. In addition this could be a slow transition for Jimmy to develop himself as a singles wrestler.

3) Excellent build up Dean Ambrose between Bray Wyatt

I love it when the WWE takes their time to develop a feud over a couple of months rather than rush it. That is exactly what is happening with Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose currently they are having incredible matches and interfering in each other matches. In addition to having great on the mic chemistry with each other I cannot wait to see what the future has in store.

SmackDown Results
Ryback defeated Kane via ShellShock
Naomi defeated Alicia Fox via Split Legged Moonsault from the top rope
Adam Rose defeated R-Truth via Party Foul
Dean Ambrose defeated Rusev by Disqualification
Jimmy Uso defeated The Miz via the Uso Samoan Splash
Roman Reigns & Dolph Ziggler defeated Seth Rollins & Big Show via a spear

Improving The WWE Commentary Team

In wrestling there are a couple constants in order to have quality product along with quality matches simple booking, quality storylines and an entertaining commentary team. Currently in WWE they seemed to be confused what used to be not miss TV of RAW and SmackDown, throughout the years its seems to continue to get boring week after week. Even though it’s a small aspect it’s still very vital but the commentary team always seems to be distracted and they don’t focus on the main point which is the match which always is really annoying and takes away from the match. Out of the three main commentaries JBL is fine because he is always entertaining but Michael Cole and King need to be removed because of all their nonsense they always say.

Compared to Thursday where on NXT I am completely invested for the whole hour because the product is fresh and the commentary team is unbelievable. I was not a fan of Alex Riley at first but I cannot lie he has significant improved. At first I was really skeptical of Jason Albert but I have been impressed with his ability to do quality play by play because you would never imagine that he would be very effective. Due to unfortunate situations Corey Graves had to retire due to his several concussions he received during his very short WWE career . He had a very promising career but he has made the best of out of his current situation he was added to the NXT announce team, in only just two weeks he has been a complete natural in my opinion.

I would rather have WWE make some changes to the commentary team on the main roster. The following individuals should be on the main roster instead, I believe Bryon Saxton was very underrated and quite entertaining in my opinion on NXT, Main Event and even back in ECW. Even though Kyle Edwards signed a WWE contract in September he would be great addition on the announce team because he would be a natural. Due to the fact that he previous work he would conduct interviews with the talent from the WWE and often involved himself on the announce teams of many wrestling promotions on the indy circuit.

Nikki Bella Has Significantly Improved

Now often wrestling fans currently don’t care much for the Divas division on the main roster for good reason because of the lack of competition. I believe it’s time to call the NXT women’s division to the main roster because they are all ready in my opinion.

However I have been quite impressed with a Diva on the main roster that has significant improved in the ring with her move set in my opinion and that’s Nikki Bella. Nikki Bella had some bad luck in 2013 when she broke fractured tibia back in June she was out and off of TV for a couple of months. I believe she has always lived in Brie Bella shadow and Brie Bella has been involved in headlines after getting married to Daniel Bryan. It all changed when Brie Bella was involved with a very compelling storyline after being fired then reinstated by Stephanie McMahon in order to have a match with her at SummerSlam.

Nikki did the unthinkable and turned heel on her sister and assisted Stephanie to victory. I believe all Nikki needed was to be turned heel, because before as a face she had no charisma and no personality but now I am finally invested in her. Stephanie showed her appreciation and put Nikki Bella in a triple threat match against Paige at the Night of Champions PPV but she came up short in her quest to become champion.

Then a month later Nikki and Brie feud escalated to another level and she challenged Brie Bella, to another match at the HIAC PPV and the loser would become the other another personal assistant for a month. Nikki got the last laugh and picked up the win, she continued her momentum and picked up another victory next week on SmackDown in a Halloween Battle Royal to be crowned the new number one contender for the Divas title.

At Survivor Series she did the impossible and she defeated AJ with a plan up her sleeve as soon as the bell sounded Brie Bella kissed AJ on the apron. This led to the Rack Attack by Nikki Bella she got the three count and became a two time Divas Champion. Then just recently at the TLC PPV she retained her title against AJ in a very impressive rematch in my opinion.

Nikki Bella has significantly improved in the ring but one area where she needs help on her promo work because it’s absolutely terrible. She has so much potential to become the John Cena of the Divas division when it comes down to merchandise I just have a feeling. It just very weird to me that Nikki and Bella are all of a sudden is friends after they hated each other for months.

Roman Reigns Ain’t Ready

Courtesy of WWE

Roman Reigns was proclaimed to be the future and the next superstar within the WWE for good reason. I don’t understand how Roman Reigns was selected as the Superstar of the year and he got a Slammy award. Proving the fact that the Slammy’s are absolutely rigged, they don’t mean anything anymore because Randy Orton should have won but he got robbed.

However a lot people within the company and fans from the outside view see him as championship material expect for myself. I respect his in ring work but I believe when he was aligned with the Shield he was protected and he came off really strong as the group powerhouse. While he was in the group it hid  his weaknesses which was his pathetic mic skills.

Due to unfortunately reasons he had emergency hernia surgery back in September, now Roman Reigns made quite a few on appearances on RAW HIAC, Survivor Series and NXT Revolution all where he produced the worst promos I have ever heard. Reigns made his long awaited return at the TLC PPV where he prevented the Big Show from getting involved in the tables match which involved Rollins against Cena. Reigns speared Rollins followed by an AA from John Cena through a table to pick up the win.

Roman Reigns made his officially return with the company back on RAW where he defeated Fandango and on SmackDown it was Deja Vu all over it again. My final verdict about Roman Reigns is that even though he might have incredible potential he still needs improvement if does not improve on the mic he not be a world champion. It doesn’t matter to me how good he is in the ring he can’t talk therefore he is not marketable, and he will be boring great wrestlers or HOF were always versatile in the ring or on the mic. However that will be impossible because WWE wants to make him a champion immediately, unfortunately he looks poised to win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar which could be a disaster. I have officially started to hate on Roman Reigns because he remains of the next John Cena of this reality era.

TLC PPV Preview

It’s the holiday season and around this time it’s a lot of love is going on expect for this Sunday at the TLC PPV. Where bodies will be lying on the floor in complete carnage with tables, ladders and chairs everywhere. It’s amazing to me that there are nine matches in total with no world title on the line, I will do what I do best and that’s providing the best coverage and predictions.

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins Tables Match

This will be the main event the added stipulation of the match Cena losing his number one contender spot for the WWE Heavyweight title doesn’t make any sense. Therefore it kind of gives away the ending in my opinion Rollins is the clear number one heel in the WWE right now so it makes sense to have him main event with a top face. I would love to see Rollins pick up a huge win for his career but I don’t think that happens here. Cena will get the win I’m have a feeling Randy Orton or Roman Reigns will do a run in to cost Rollins the match. I envision Cena against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match Luke Harper (c) vs Dolph Ziggler

The show stealer gets a chance to win his Intercontinental title back in front of his hometown crowd. Dolph seems to be in the middle of a major push, Dolph won the Survivor Series being the lone survivor, and getting the pins in the main events of Raw. Luke Harper is part of the behind the scenes power struggle between Vince and Triple H. Vince believes Luke Harper is the guy to push from the Wyatt’s to whereas Triple H believes it to be Bray Wyatt. Luke has Vince in his corner, not a bad person to go to bat for you. These two have put on good matches on Raw and Smackdown, this one should blow those out of the water Dolph Ziggler recaptures the title.

Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose TLC Match

This all started because Bray thought he could get into the head of Dean and convert him to Bray’s beliefs. Bray was wrong, at Survivor Series Dean Ambrose gave Bray a brutally beating down with a steel chair. From then on it has been Bray’s mission to destroy Dean. The mind games reversed when Dean smashed Bray’s rocking chair that seems to have belonged to Sister Abigail. For the first time since Bray debut he seems very vulnerable. The back and forth between Bray and Dean has been fantastic but the problem with doing this rivalry now is that both need PPV wins. This is going to be a close encounter this match could go either way in my opinion I am learning towards Dean Ambrose picking up the victory.

Ryback vs. Kane Chairs Match

This feud began when Ryback backstabbed team Authority and he joined team Cena instead at Survivor Series. This rubbed Kane the wrong way, this match is way for Kane to get revenge for what Ryback did in the past Kane will gain absolutely nothing from a win. Therefore Ryback will go over clean and he will continue his momentum moving forward.

Erick Rowan vs. Big Show Stairs Match

Someone explain to me what a stairs match is? The WWE really hasn’t done a great job at explain how you win the match. At this point in their careers, a win does a lot for Rowan but does nothing for the Big Show. None of this rivalry makes sense, to the rules, in addition to the reason for Rowan wants to fight Big Show. The premise is that Rowan doesn’t like bullies but Show hasn’t really been a bully. Big Show just become a selfish trade that is all Rowan wins this match, I have extremely low expectations for this encounter.

WWE Tag Team Championship Miz and Mizdow (c) vs. Uso’s

This has been my favourite Uso feud so far, The Miz and Mizdow are allowing the Usos to show character and a different side which we haven’t not seen before. Mizdow antics are adding the entertainment value to it, while it hints at tension between him and The Miz. Naomi addition makes things personal all four men in the match can actually wrestle, so if given time I expect this to be a good match. I still envision that the Miz and Mizdow will work out their differences and retain the Tag Team titles.

WWE Divas Championship Nikki Bella (c) vs. AJ Lee

This rivalry has been weird to me, AJ keeps making fun of her and the Bella’s in general but you cannot do that as a face though, on the other hand Nikki has said a lot of things to AJ but not in a heel fashion. Nikki has really improved in the ring but AJ has stayed the same for two years in my opinion. This could go two different ways and both of those ways involve Brie costing someone the match. I say Brie will cost AJ the title again. I believe it’s too soon to pull the trigger and return to the Bella feud. That’s going to be saved for WrestleMania. Nikki will find a way to cheat and retain her title; I also wouldn’t mind seeing a setup for triple threat at Royal Rumble.

US Championship Rusev (c) vs. Jack Swagger

So we’re going back to this again, why? Swagger has no momentum for him and this seems just a way to get Rusev on the card. Nothing has changed from their rivalry over the summer, only the U.S. Title is involved. Rusev wins with the Accolade. If Swagger gets the pin or submission here it completely throws away the last year of build up. It’s time we get Rusev to become involved in a real feud that has a possibility of him losing.

The New Day vs Goldust and Stardust

This is the preshow match Goldust and Star Dust have been losing a lot lately and this is New Days PPV debut, no chance of New day losing. I would like to see the WWE begin the transition back to the Rhodes brothers against each other. It was teased last year at the Royal Rumble this time they should pull the trigger. The New Day needs to explain exactly what their gimmick truly is because nobody seems to get it.

SmackDown Review 12/12/14

 Courtesy of WWE

It’s hard to review a SmackDown coming off a perfect NXT Revolution that has been the best show in years in my opinion from top to bottom developing talent most importantly the WWE has a bright future. I thought that SmackDown was decent this week nothing special, I was very disappointed in the lack of build up for the TLC PPV. I will provide you with what I do best my insight and my three count of the best highlights on SmackDown.

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro as a team

Even though they have only been a team for only a couple of weeks they have been very impressive in my opinion, they had the best match on SmackDown last night. It was a very entertaining back and forth intense match; however they came up on the short end and took a loss. I believe they are the perfect team because they have a combo of speed and power and who knows if they work on their mic skills they could cut incredible promos. I would love to see them crowned as the Tag Team Champions in the future because they have incredible chemistry.

The Ascension Are Coming

I am extremely excited because on SmackDown WWE aired the first vignette involving The Ascension are coming to debut on SmackDown soon. I was a big fan of them in NXT they had the longest run as NXT Tag Team Champions and they should have got called up earlier though in my opinion. This addition on the main roster will significantly help a lacklustre tag team division.

Dean Ambrose Promo

Dean Ambrose cut another stellar dark promo as usually in a dark room under a ladder which I thought was brilliant. He hyped up his match against Bray Wyatt very effective in my opinion. Their match is the only one that truly I am looking forward to this Sunday at the TLC PPV.

SmackDown Results

Nikki defeated Alicia Fox via Rack Attack

Big E Langston defeated Goldust via Big Ending

Jack Swagger defeated Titus O’Neil via Big Ending

Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan defeated Big Show, Kane & Luke Harper via a Shell Shock
